STCW 95 Basic Safety certificates are a requirement for virtually all professional seafarers, who must be trained in compliance with the STCW 95 convention. STCW 95 Basic Safety Training from Eima ensures you meet all its provisions.
There are four elements of the Basic Safety Training course:
1. STCW95 Personal Survival - survival suits, hypothermia, liferafts, basic actions in emergency, etc.
2. STCW95 Elementary First Aid - basic, immediate, and emergency response to the most common shipboard injury emergencies, including CPR.
3. STCW95 Elementary Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention - types/classes of fires, prevention, hazard awareness, methods of fire extinguishment, structure of incident response team, appropriate equipment, personal safety, team support, and live exercises.
4. STCW95 Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities - types of shipboard emergencies, alarms and signals, initial actions, personal/protective safety equipment, effects of pollution, pollution prevention, safe working practices, enclosed spaces, accident prevention, sexual harassment, individual rights, drug and alcohol awareness, and prevention of abuse.
Course Aim:
The course aims to train participants in the basic concepts, principles and techniques of personal survival, fire-prevention, fire-fighting, elementary first aid, personal safety and social responsibilities on board merchant ships, according to the stipulated STCW95 requirements. Trainees for these courses should be physically and medically fit for strenuous training activity, including entry into water from a height
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
1. State immediate actions to be taken by anybody on board if:
- a person falls overboard,
- fire or smoke is detected,
- the fire or abandon ship alarm is sounded,
2. Prevent, control and fight fires on board :
3. Operate life saving appliances
4. Apply medical first aid on board ship
5. Personal safety and social responsibility
- state precautions to take to avoid pollution of the environment.
- state actions to take if pollution of the environment is discovered.
Certificates:
Trainees who successfully complete this course shall demonstrate continued proficiency and competence in the elements of Basic Safety as laid down in STCW95 of Table A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3 and A-VI/1-4.
