Course Aim
The course is designed to provide new employees who work in oil and gas field offshore with basic safety orientation knowledge of rig operations and safe working practices.
Intended Learning Outcome
The participants should be able to acquire and apply the basic safety knowledge and skill in offshore oil and gas rig operation.
Course Terminal Objectives
- Discuss the general work safety procedures. (Knowledge)
- Identify and demonstrate the correct use of PPE (Knowledge/Skill)
- Explain the hazard communications and materials handling.(Knowledge)
- State the occupational health procedures. (knowledge)
- Discuss the specialized work procedures (knowledge)
- State the fire safety and prevention requirement and demonstrate the usage of fire fighting appliances (knowledge/skill)
- Discuss and demonstrate the proper material handling techniques (knowledge/skill)
- Discuss and demonstrate the basic first aid techniques (knowledge/skill)
- Explain the nature of Rig/Platform working environment (knowledge)
- Explain the emergency response procedures (knowledge)
- Discuss the mode of transportation to offshore installation and safe transfer techniques at sea (knowledge)
- Explain the water safety procedures, life saving equipment and demonstrate water survival techniques (knowledge/skill)
- Identify various types marine pollution and reporting procedure (knowledge)
Target Groups
All personnel working in the oil and gas rig operations
Course Methodology
This course will be presented in English. Course delivery format will be a combination of lecture/practical and team activities.
Measurement of learning shall be conducted through written tests (knowledge) and practical exercises (skill).
Pre-Requisite
Valid Medical Certificate.
