Entry Requirement:

The participant must: -

• be at least 12 years of age;
• able to speak & write English, as the course is conducted in English

Objective:

To promote safe power-boating and train the public and powered pleasured craft owners in safe handling of powered pleasure boat within UAE in general. The course will emphasize on the theory and practical aspect of good seamanship and navigation.

• Type of Boats - craft & hull
• Pre-departure checklist
• Communication - distress / voice procedures
• Boat launching / recovery
• Basic seamanship- knots/bends/hitches
• Personal survival technique
• Proper use of Life Jackets
• Basic fire prevention / fire-fighting
• IALA Bouyage System
• Rules of the road
• Light & shapes
• Use of GPS for navigation
• Passage planning
• How to plot a position on a chart
• Importance of chart information

Assessment: Written and Practical test will be conducted at the end of the course.

Certificates : Certificates of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
