Objective:
To provide knowledge and training to shipboard personnel designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer (SSO) as defined in Section A/2.1.6 and the requirements of Section A/13.2, B/13.1 & B/13.2 of the ISPS code and IMO Model Course 3.19.
Course Content:
- An overview of the ISPS Code & SOLAS Chapter XI-2
- Historic perspective & current security threats & pattern
- International and national maritime security policies.
- Responsibilities of government, companies and port facilities.
- Risk assessments of ships security.
- Operational limitations and maintenance of security equipments and systems.
- Developing a Ship Security Plan.
- Threat Identification, Recognition and Response.
- Ship Security Plan in Action.
- Documentations, Audits and Security Administration.
Assessment: Written test will be conducted at the end of the course.
Certificates: Certificates of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
