Entry Requirement:

  • participant must able to speak & write English, as the course will be conducted in English

Objective:

To provide knowledge and training to shipboard personnel designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Ship Security Officer (SSO) as defined in Section A/2.1.6 and the requirements of Section A/13.2, B/13.1 & B/13.2 of the ISPS code and IMO Model Course 3.19.

Course Content:

  • An overview of the ISPS Code & SOLAS Chapter XI-2
  • Historic perspective & current security threats & pattern
  • International and national maritime security policies.
  • Responsibilities of government, companies and port facilities.
  • Risk assessments of ships security.
  • Operational limitations and maintenance of security equipments and systems.
  • Developing a Ship Security Plan.
  • Threat Identification, Recognition and Response.
  • Ship Security Plan in Action.
  • Documentations, Audits and Security Administration.

 

Assessment: Written test will be conducted at the end of the course.

Certificates: Certificates of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
