Course Duration: Total 20 days or 4 weeks
Approvals: National Transport Authority- NTA to Section A-II/3 of STCW 95
Entry Requirement:
The participant must: -
- be at least 18 years of age;
- have medical examination certifying fitness for sea conducted not more than 2 years before the examination;
- have passed an approved eyesight test conducted not more than 6 months before the examination;
- have completed STCW 95 Basic Safety Training course.
- have, within the 5 years, acquired the relevant period of practical experience as a crew member of not less than 12 months in one or more of the following power driven vessels:
- a licensed harbour craft or
- a vessel belonging to the Government or a statutory board or
- a sea-going vessel engaged in trade, a trawler or a deep sea fishing vessel
Course Aim:
The aim of this course is to equip participants with the necessary understanding and knowledge to assume as Master on ships of less than 200GT (Near coastal voyage of UAE).
Course Content:
- Chartwork / IALA Maritime Buoyage System
- Tides and Use of Admiralty Tide Tables
- Compass Work / Shipborne Navigational Equipment
- Navigational Safety / International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
- Meteorology / Manoeuvering the Ship & Ship Power Plants
- Seamanship / Response to Marine Emergencies
- Distress Signals and Communications / Prevention of Marine Pollution
- General Ship Knowledge / Legislative Requirements
Assessment: Candidate must complete all the tasks and assignments in the Shipboard Training Record Book. Written and Oral test will be conducted at the end of the course.
Certificates: Certificates of completion will be issued upon successful completion of the course and passing a written theory & oral test.
