Course Aim

The intent of this course is to provide the participants, who are directly engaged in oil and gas industries, with a basic understanding on the hazardous nature of Hydrogen Sulphide gas and to develop an appropriate attitude toward the safe and correct ways of responding to a H2S emergency situation.

Intended Learning Outcome

The participants will know the dangers and characteristics of hydrogen sulphide gas and are able to use the appropriate breathing equipment in the event of emergency.

Course Terminal Objectives

  • Know the properties and hazards associated with hydrogen sulphide gas (knowledge)
  • Know the type and usage of H2S detectors (knowledge)
  • Know and demonstrate the usage of respiratory protections (knowledge/competence)
  • Understand the unsafe practices of working with H2S and its general procedures (knowledge)
  • Demonstrate the emergency procedures for H2S (competence)

Target Groups

All personnel working in hydrogen sulphide gas designated areas.

Course Methodology

This course will be presented in English. Course delivery format will be a combination of lecture/practical and team activities.
Measurement of learning shall be conducted through written tests (knowledge) and practical exercises (competence).
