Course Aim

The objectives of this course is to ensure the banksman be able to control a safe lifting operation

Intended Learning Outcome

The participant will be able to demonstrate and control safe lifting operation

Course Terminal Objectives

  • Familiar with crane capacities and parameters. (knowledge)
  • Ensure all lifting equipment are check and safe prior to lift (knowledge/skill)
  • Identify the weight and centre of gravity of the load (knowledge/skill)
  • Perform basic mass and weight calculation (knowledge/skill)
  • Demonstrate effective communication during lifting using radio and hand signal (knowledge/skill)
  • Understand crane component, terminology and interpreting the load charts (knowledge/skill)
  • Perform a lifting plan, preparation, execution of lifting operation (knowledge/skill)
  • Control and ensure that works is carried out in accordance with the lifting plan(knowledge/skill)

Course Methodology

This course will be presented in English. Course format delivery will be a combination of lecture and practical exercises in group and individual demonstration.

Measurement of learning shall be conducted through modular questionnaires (knowledge) and practical demonstration (skill). A final written test covered of the following:


Part 1 Multiple choices questionnaires ( 25% )
Part 2 Fill in the blank ( 25% )
Part 3 Essay ( 25% )
Part 4 Calculation ( 25% )

Note:

The course assessment will be based on 50% practical exercises and 50% of written test results.
